Updating Your Internet Files

The first thing you will need to do is update all of your system files to ensure that you have the most recent versions of the Internet Backup files.

You should update your files once every three months or so to ensure you have current versions of TOPS Internet files

Follow these steps to update your files:

1.   Make sure you are logged into TOPS 2000™ on the computer that will be performing the backups. This may be a workstation with access to the data files on the server, or the server itself.

2. In TOPS 2000™, click Internet, Check for New Web Files. (TOPS 2000™ will notify you that it is checking for new web files.)

Note: This proceedure is not a substitute for updating your program when TOPS Software send you a CD. Neither is it OK to skip this step if you have recently updated from CD.

This proceedure is necessary to maintain a synchronization between your files and the files on our Internet server, to insure that backup files are not corrupted.

3. If there are new files on the server, you will see a notification screen informing you that some TOPS files are out of date. DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING yet. You will need to close TOPS 2000™ to ensure that the TOPS2000.exe will get updated in this process. Leave the update window open and click the X in the upper right corner to close TOPS 2000™.

4. Click Update Now.

If you have never updated your web files, you should have 30-35 files that need to be updated. This will take approximately 10-20 minutes depending on your connection speed.

5. Once the update is complete, you can close this window and re-open TOPS 2000™.
