| 1. Click the link above to download
the estimator to any computer that has TOPS installed,
and access to the server containing the community data.
Save the file to your desktop, and double
click on the new IBS Calc.exe icon. |
|
| 2. Check the communities that you
wish to estimate. You may check and uncheck communities
at will and recalculate as many times as you need. |
|
3. Click Calculate Size. Calculations
may take a little while with larger communities since
this is an actual compression, exactly as the service
will do when you perform a backup. |
|
4. The estimated backup sizes of each
community will display in the column on the right. The
figure in the teal box is the total of one backup of
each community selected. |
|
5. The initial calculation determines
backup sizes using the default settings in the Internet
Backup Setup Wizard. If you wish to include the miscellaneous
files that are not selected by default, check the option
labeled "Include misc. in file sizes. |
|
6. To recalculate file sizes using miscellaneous
files, click Claculate Size again.
* Once a community has been calculated,
you may turn it off and on and recalculate without having
to wait for the compression routine again. |
|
7. If you wish to view additional information
on the backups, click the Advanced (>>) button. |
|
Three groups appear in the
advanced settings.
- Original indicates the actual size
of these files on your data server.
- Compressed indicates the size these
files will be when compressed and uploaded to the
Internet Backup server.
|
The first column group, Misc. Files,
calculates all of the files that are not included in
the standard backup settings. Primarily this includes
any graphics uploaded to WO or CCR and any Zip or other
archive files (Recursive Backups). |
|
The second column group is the Data
files. All community and owner data is in this category.
These are the default settings on the Backup Wizard
(including the extra modules like CCR/ACC, WO/SR, Gate,
and Pool Pass.)
|
|
The third column group is a total of
both miscellaneous and data files. This is the actual
size the backup files will be. |
|
The compression percentage displays
the percent of the original size of the compressed file.
This is a significant number. For example,
the figure in the illustration - 25%, means that the
file has been compressed to 25% of it's original size
- a 75% compression rate. |
|
Once you have determined the size you
will need, click the exit button to close the estimator. |
